While the coastline of Corsica is lovely, it would be a crime to visit this beautiful island without seeing at least some of the interior. Pine forests climb high clinging to the mountain slopes. Sleepy hill-top villages are waiting to be explored. Cascading waterfalls and winding streams, tumble over rocks, as their crystal clear waters intermittently form idyllic, if a little chilly, pools to bathe in. The best of the scenery though is only accessible on foot so pack your hiking boots and head inland to discover the hidden beauty of Corsica’s interior.
Following the Restonica Gorge brings you to some captivating scenery including a series of mountain lakes. To get there you will need to drive to Corte and take the D623 to the gorge. Liz, from Corsica Journeys, gives a wonderful account in her guest post aboutof Hiking La Restonica with some excellent tips and advice and some stunning photographs.
